Installing Linux

• Installation Types - Desktop, Workstation, Server, Custom
• Partition Schemas - LVM, RAID, and how many to make
• Firewall Settings - To FW or not to FW, that is the question.
• Software Selection - Start Small and add, or go whole hog

• FTP - Fast, Easiest to password protect
• HTTP - Easy to setup, more firewalls let this thru than FTP
• NFS - Most useful on networks already using NFS (to export /homes, etc)

• Mandrake - RPM Based
• Debian - Apt-Get
• Slackware - .pkg/tgz
• Lnx BBC, Peanut Linux, SuperRescueCD, Trinux, Knoppix
